Derek has been building sports publications for two decades. He started TWolves Blog in 2006, grew it into the Bloguin network, and now builds Floe, the AI-native publishing platform behind Bloguin’s sites.

Derek started TWolves Blog in 2006 to cover the Minnesota Timberwolves. Two years later he partnered with three other NBA blogs to form Bloguin, a network that grew to 200 sites by 2010.
Under Derek, Bloguin acquired Awful Announcing in 2011 and launched The Sports Daily in 2015, growing it to 3 million monthly views and more than 100 writers.
In 2026 he built Floe, an AI-native publishing platform that now runs TWolves Blog, Sports Gossip and Swipe Sports, and he still writes Timberwolves coverage himself.
